Brandy from Alabama Rescue FOUND a NEW home...

a sheer delight to have around, this lovely (very skinny) red and white young lady, between one and two years old, was surrendered to a shelter, reasons unknown, and of course BHRA was contacted to welcome her to rescue! Brandy has a simply lovely, fun personality and a sweet nature. Her tail never stops wagging. She gets along terrific with other dogs and loves to play with them, and she's just great with cats too! She has picked up the doggie door pretty quickly, and while it appears she wasn't housebroken, she's doing very well in the short time she's been with us. Her one bad habit is that she can get pretty vocal if she "doesn't get her way" (like you're ignoring her, for example). But her great personality and sweetness makes up for that. This petite sized 5 year old is just as cute as the dickens, and has a HUGE personality for such a little bitty guy! He was surrendered to a shelter by his owner, no reason given, though we suspect it's because he was heartworm positive and they didn't want to treat him. He has now undergone those lifesaving treatments and is doing great! He gets along great with other dogs and is super friendly. Bearegard will be available for adoption after 3/22, and as cute and little as he is, we don't think he'll be around long! Want to know more about his personality? Contact his foster mom:

My New mummy likes loving on me so does my dad. in fact, everybody likes to love on me including my new sister.I hab a nu home in Va wif my new sister, Pwecious,we pway and eat and drink water and jump and eat and roll awound all de time. Tanks Leslie & Jean down in Looziana Basset Rescue for letting me come live wif Pwecious and my nu furever home, dis is fun. Dad eben let me dwive the van yesterday. Pwecious & I pwayed in the back of the van and the fwont seats all the way back from Staunton yesterday, we even stopped at dis pwace dat had big trucks and we went potty, den we ate some more and dwank some mur water den we pwayed sum more.

This is from Pet Loss forum and ok to cross post- Donna does not know how to contact our rescue groups for help. She has been very active in saving the lives of numerous dogs on Roatan- She flies all her pets to Houston for all their vet care- if anyone is able to help I have her email address or you can reach her through the Pet Loss forum (Sox's mom)Dear petloss family,HELP! I just received an email with a picture of this 5 month old male Basset puppy. His name is Jeeves. He was bought in San Pedro Sula, Honduras (mainland) and has all his shots up to one year. His owners are leaving the island of Roatan in a few days and don't want to bother with him, so we are looking for a home for him. I know I am far away, but it is only a 3 hour flight from Houston to Roatan on Saturdays. Continental Airlines has two Saturday flights down here. I know if Jeeves can fit in-plane, the cost is $100 on Continental. If not, Continental ships pets thru PetSafe according to FAA regulations.If anyone would be interested at all, I would gladly keep Jeeves until you could come down.I don't know how to get his picture on petloss quickly because Ed usually works with my photos and sends them back in about a week. He is just TOOOO CUTE to be left to the streets.Jeeves will become a street-dog very shortly. If ANYONE wants an adorable basset puppy, please let me know. I can get health certificates for him to travel. In the meantime, we are running all over the place asking everyone here to adopt him.I think most all of you know what happens to street dogs here, their lives are extremely short and they are physically abused. Once again, the only reason we don't want to take him is because of ZERO VET CARE, or should I say BAD VET CARE here. I have enough love in my heart, but just fear he will need a vet and there is not one.Not only could you pick Jeeves up, you could swim in turquoise blue waters, snorkel, scuba, get a winter TAN. I'm trying here. 2.) He is still in Roatan. He was adopted by 2 British girls who unfortunately are keeping him chained outside. The person involved in trying to rescue him has offered money for him- The girls have said if things don't work out with him, she can have the dog but right now he's receiving care- just not the best :( He still needs prayers- wendy
